April Bee Block...

...for Songbird! A Cooper's Block was requested for April, using blue, yellow, and gray fabric. I'm pleased mostly with how this one turned out ---- in hindsight I wish I would've used just a tad more of the navy blue in the lower left quadrant, but oh well....live and learn!

NewBee - April

I think the navy helps the block "spin" a bit. The only snag I ran into on this one is that there are a whole lot of bias edges to deal with! I wasn't thinking of that when I pieced the individual units, but it became all too apparent when I joined the units together. Ugh! It is ever so slightly smaller than the requested 12.5" and I find that ever so slightly annoying, but it is square.  {grin}

May's block is from this Moda Bakeshop tutorial ---- and I'm fairly confident the fabric is from Kate Spain's Central Park line (yup; my little bit to work with is the first swatch on the left in the third row). I love the prints! While I may not be a designer fabric junky, Kate's two previous lines ---- Fandango and 12 Days of Christmas ---- are both in my stash and that makes me smile. She definitely caters to my style and love of color. I've got the half-square triangles sewn, pressed, and squared up. (Squaring up took twice as long as marking, sewing, cutting, and pressing!) Just need to piece the block and I'll actually be on time this month!
